She prays her brother, parents are alive & safe

It was just two weeks ago that this family was together for a wedding back home. When entrepreneur Shivani Ansari bid adieu to her brother Manish, who runs an eatery in Tokyo, his wife and their daughter, she had never thought she would soon wake up to the news of a deadly tsunami devastating Japan.

"The last two days have been traumatic. Sometimes my brother would call through internet and the next moment the call would get cut. There is no way to find out how are they," said Shivani.

It's not just her brother's family who keep her glued to the phone at her C-Scheme house, her parents also left for US via Tokyo on Friday. Once they landed in Tokyo, Shivani lost touch with them. "I am constantly in touch with the airlines. According to the last information, they had taken a flight to the US, however, I am not sure and waiting for their call," said an anxious Shivani, who herself has a business in Tokyo and had lived there for long.

"It's a beautiful country and I know so many families living there. Not just Japanese but I have many Indian friends there. I am not able to get in touch with them and find out if they are all right," Shivani said.

"The conditions there are bad. People are short of food. There is news there could be an another earthquake. We are just praying things get normal soon," said Shivani.

City jeweller Anirudh Singh also said, "I immediately called up my uncle who lives in Japan. He lives in Osaka and also felt the massive earthquake but thankfully his family is safe."
